A bit about me - My Story
I was born in Cheltenham in 1965. My childhood was spent with my lovely caring Mum, Nana and Gramp and my brother Martin in the small suburb of Bridgend near Stonehouse in Gloucestershire.
As a child I loved anything physical. I was always out on my bike in the school holidays and my favorite sports at school were athletics (100 metres, long jump and high jump), Netball, basketball and rounders.
We moved to Paulton and the Bath area when I was 14 years old. I changed schools and went to Norton Hill. It was a tough thing to do as a teenager but I soon made lots of very close friends.
I met my husband Martin at the local gym in Radstock. We lived together in Paulton and then Warmley in Bristol. In 1998 we moved to Peasedown St John near Bath. I currently live there with my family, husband Martin, son Oliver and daughter Jessica.
My husband works in the computer industry, is a keen cyclist and trains regularly in the gym. Martin loves cycling in the mountains and the freedom that it brings. He has completed a number of very challenging cycle rides, including many at over 1,000 miles each!
We are both proud parents and both of our children are both Taekwondo Black Belts. In the summer we often go out cycling as a family. We all enjoy staying active.
I started teaching fitness when I was 18 years old for a small studio called Sequence Health on the Radstock Road in Midsomer Norton near Bath - just a few classes each week whilst working full time in my parents pet shop at Paulton.
From there I started to rent local village halls, health club's and sports centers. The first classes that I taught were Aerobics and Bums 'n Tums. Over the years that followed I took a variety of qualifications in things such as, Aeroskip, Reebok Martial Arts, Fitness Yoga, Gym Instruction, Personal Training and Nutrition.
Nutrition is a personal passion of mine, and I have taken a number of courses and qualifications in the subject. In fact, the whole family is vegetarian and in the summer we grow as many of our own fruit and vegetables as we can in the garden and at our allotment.
At peak times I have nearly 600 people coming along to my classes each week. I have met some wonderful people over the years and I still love teaching fitness to this very day. I love my classes to be busy, I get such a buzz from it! The atmosphere is amazing and the feeling that I am helping others means so much to me personally.
I am also proud to say that I have helped to raise over £60,000.00 for various charities with the fantastic support of the wonderful people that attend my classes.
I would like to thank everyone who has come to my classes. Without you all I wouldn't still be teaching exercise today
